Double Island Point Southbound

[Kyle]High tide at the Wide Bay Bar came in the afternoon, so for once we didn’t have to get up in the dark for a trip. The crossing was a smooth one, but the winds were out of the south instead the north as was forecast. So much for our easy hour under spinnaker. Instead, we made three long tacks while watching several boats that had left after us motor past on the direct course and then take the prime spots in the anchorage. I call them mast boats – motorboats with a mast. I swear, the only boats we ever see sailing anymore are kids in dinghies and the yacht club racers doing their twice-weekly triangles in their adjacent bay.

The rains and big winds of the previous few days returned in earnest, so all of the boats in the anchorage stayed tucked inside our cabins waiting for the next break in the clouds to appear.

Double Island Point (DIP) is a beautiful anchorage to hang out in. Sadly, this time we didn't make it ashore.
